"We were introduced
to Phil Aldous by our very talented and successful interior
decorator from York, Maine. She predicted that Phil would exceed our
expectations for restoring and refinishing several antique pieces,
particularly our old dining room table.
In fact, Phil went
well beyond our expectations for many reasons. The quality of his
work is impeccable. He takes the time to achieve perfection,
particularly with a difficult assignment. Our antique table had
screw holes up through the surface, plus several significant
scratches.
Phil is the only
New York State Certified Journeyman Furniture Finisher for a good
reason. He is truly a master. Phil made the holes disappear,
restored the broken table legs and completely re-did the table's
surface. We now see the magnificent results every day. Friends who
visit us in Ogunquit, ME can not believe how wonderful the table
looks. It has truly become the center of attention.
Beyond all this,
Phil taught me how to repair old, loose chairs. Based on his
detailed instructions, I managed to tighten and repair eight chairs,
including one from China that had 19 pieces, all intricately
intertwined. Phil listened to our requests, persuaded us to make
modifications based on his vast experience, and then delivered
fantastic results within budget. We highly recommend Phil to those
who demand perfection."

Restoration of Water and Smoke Damaged Pieces
"Steven and I were thrilled with the restoration of our water and smoke damaged pieces. We can’t thank you enough. Your work on his grandfather’s chair was especially fine. We never thought the smoke and soot could be removed from all the little crevices in the carvings, but it looks far better now than it did before.
The color on the jelly cupboard is rich and warm – many of our friends have commented on the patina. And you got the drawers to open on our secretary!
We can’t thank you enough for restoring some of our pieces. We lost so many in the fire; it is wonderful to have been able to save these. "
